Meryl was introduced to photography as a teenager when her best friend got a camera. One click of the shutter and her journey through the rabbit hole of photography began. Starting with film and a darkroom, her art and interests expanded into creating polaroid transfers and once she discovered Photoshop, on to digital collage, where she could mix and blend multiple images into a unique and singular concept.
A few of her inspirations include silent film and film noir movies, with their use of contrast and shadow to infuse surreal qualities into their stories. Currently, Meryl includes encaustic skill in her creative process, where she applies multiple wax layers to the print surface, thus creating added depth and luminosity.
