                  How do you connect to art? In a gallery or museum, do you respond emotionally to a piece of art? The subject? The colors? Art has the ability to evoke joy, compassion, and fond memories, which can enrich our lives.

                  You needn't confine your experience to outside sources.  Consider bringing art into your home. The process of creating an art collection can be a rewarding endeavor - each piece chosen by you for its unique and personal appeal. 

                  Let's discuss it further. Where could your collection be placed? Art can occupy a tiny corner niche or a full wall. Or maybe, placed separately throughout your home, you can enjoy art in each room.

                  How to begin?  First, create a budget. You'll be more comfortable with your purchases having given yourself permission to spend a certain amount. 

                  Next is the fun part!  Learn about different art genres, mediums and artists that catch your attention. Explore through visits to museums, art galleries and art fairs. Online galleries, art blogs, social media platforms and books inform too. As gallery owners, we've used all these sources to learn.  Seeing and learning about art and artists will provide a path to discover your own art preferences.

                  Be confident and rely primarily on your 'eye'. Trust your instincts, which will represent you and your tastes. Take time and enjoy the process of growing your art collection. Additionally, engaging with and collecting art can introduce you to new communities, build relationships with artists, and create connections with galleries and other collectors.

                  Another approach of collecting for some is building a portfolio of art.  If you lean towards a special genre of art, this too can offer rewarding opportunities.  Some examples - discovering local artists in the early stages of a promising career, artists using specific mediums to create, or artwork focused on distinct subjects.  

                  Art and artists contribute a rich tapestry to our communities.  When you engage with, support, and purchase their work, you encourage their endeavors and keep them going. Your interest and investment spreads as well to the vitality and sustainability of the entire community.
